Director of Strategy, Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union
Tamsin Lloyd has been the head of the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union’s National Communications Team for 4 years, and has recently moved to be the Director of Strategy. Although now infamous for the union’s dank memes, the AMWU’s communications team spends most of its time focused on union ‘core business’ – organising and growth work. Over the last 4 years the AMWU’s Communications Team has undergone a radical transformation to bring digital and communications tools to the union’s work in organising new members, supporting industrial bargaining, and rolling out political campaigns, with a focus on the way the union communicates with members in small and dispersed sites and across a range of occupations and industries. Their focus is on how digital tools can best be used to support the work of union members. Prior to working at the AMWU, Tamsin has worked at other trade unions, as a campaigner, and in Government.
